Let’s face facts; it is no use choosing a double oven if your culinary skills only extend to microwave meals and the odd pizza.  If, on the other hand, you have a family or enjoy cooking up delicious concoctions for friends and family to share, then a double oven is a must.   So now you have decided that a double oven is for you, the next choice is to decide upon fuel type, in other words whether you want a gas or an electric double oven.   Most double ovens are the electric variety, but gas ones are available, including the Hotpoint DY330GX which can be found on our website. 

Some people may wonder about the benefits of a double oven.  First of all it is important to realise that most double ovens have one smaller oven at the top, which usually incorporates a handy grilling facility, with the main and larger oven, situated beneath it.  The top oven usually will not incorporate a fan oven, and so the food cooking in the top oven will not cook as quickly as the food in the bottom oven, which will tend to have a fan incorporated within it.   However on certain models both ovens can have a fan oven facility and if you are looking for a double oven in which each oven performs equally well, then this would be a good option.

An experienced cook will probably use the top oven for delicate items such as meringues and pastries, or perhaps for baking or roasting smaller meals, whilst other cooks generally tend to use the bottom, fan oven for their cooking, leaving the top oven to be used as a plate or food warmer.

Finally it is worthy of mention that double ovens do not take up much more space than single ovens, and they certainly give you more cooking power - so if space permits then double ovens are certainly worth consideration.
