Dual Fuel Cookers

If you are deciding to update your kitchen, then choosing a new cooker is a big decision as the cooker is surely the heart of any kitchen.  Therefore, it is wise to think long and hard about the choices you need to make, and consider all options carefully.

First of all you may be lucky enough to have the choice of whether to opt for an electric cooker or a gas cooker.  Some people, sadly, cannot have this choice because the area in which they live has no gas supply, but in this instance do not worry as the electric cookers available nowadays are up-to-the-minute, with a whole range of features and fittings.  If gas is available, you may opt for a dual fuel cooker, which usually means that your hob will be fuelled by gas and your oven will be fuelled by electricity.  Not just in a power cut are dual fuel cookers beneficial.  In fact, a dual fuel cooker really does give the consumer the best of both worlds.  Most, if not all, professional cooks choose to cook with gas on their hob, as it really does give the most control (when you turn the gas off, the heat is extinguished immediately, whereas with an electric hob there is an element of “cooling down” when you turn off the heat).  Then, the benefit of your electric oven comes into play.  If you are a keen cook you will appreciate that your baking turns out best with an even heat, and this is afforded by the electric oven.  So you can see, the benefits of a dual fuel cooker are very useful, not only to amateur cooks but to professional ones too.

You may have a large family, or like entertaining guests on a regular basis.  Alternatively you may have a yen for Chinese cooking.  In this instance, if space permits you really should consider a range cooker – available again as either gas, electric or dual fuel varieties.  A range cooker really is the bees knees, giving you more hob space – up to six burners, but with the added flexibility of the addition of, say, a griddle facility, ideal for cooking steaks, or a super-hot burner for cooking with a wok, or specific burners for larger items such as fish pans.
