It can be said that freezers can come in a variety of shapes and sizes, namely the upright freezer, the under the counter freezer and the good old fashioned chest freezer.

As with fridges, under counter freezers can either be integrated models, whereby your freezer is hidden behind a door to match your existing cupboard units, or it can be on show to give a more traditional feel to your kitchen.  Again, as with modern day fridges, freezers do not just come  in the standard white colour, but you can now also choose from an array of colours including the very sleek Hotpoint RZAV21K which is a lovely black colour, the Indesit TZA1S which is silver or the Hotpoint RZA34G which is a rather trendy graphite colour.

When choosing your freezer there are many features which the different brands offer, including the intelligent fast freezing feature which rapidly reduces the temperature of any food added, thereby freezing it as quickly as possible.

Freezers, by their very nature, build up frost inside but nowadays many freezers come with a frost free feature which maintains a constant flow of cold air through the freezer, thereby preventing the build up of frost and ice.  A very practical feature indeed!

If you have a large family, or if you enjoy entertaining on a regular basis, you may like to choose a chest freezer.  A particular aspect of the chest freezer is that they open at the top, with food being stored in wire racks or shelves, often on top of each other.  Since the food can be more difficult to reach in chest freezers, these are usually used for long term storage and may often be bought as a “secondary” freezer in addition to the family’s main freezer.
